Sam Taherian’s diverse educational background include a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Masters of Science degree in Computer Engineering, both earned at San Jose State University, in addition to his law degree, earned at the California Western School of Law. Sam’s engineering masters project report was a dissertation on litigation between two major vendors of Electronic Design Automation regarding alleged patent infringement specifically in the field of design emulation tools. Sam’s technical and engineering experience includes hardware and software design as well as senior-level management at Amazon. Also licensed as a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Sam’s legal experience includes patent law, trademark litigation, complex business litigation, as well as drafting and negotiating complex technology contracts at Meta (formerly Facebook).
Before forming Lapin and Taherian, Sam was a partner at Fuller Law Firm, PC. There, he met and advised clients and managed numerous bankruptcy and cases. Additionally, Sam handled dozens of litigation cases, including tenant’s rights cases, Americans with Disabilities Act cases, real estate cases, and complex technology cases in two Federal District courts and Superior Courts throughout northern California.
Sam was formerly a member of the board of directors of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum, a non-profit that seeks to provide information, public service and education regarding bankruptcy and insolvency, and also to promote cooperation and efficiency in the bankruptcy and insolvency fields in the greater bay area.
Sam also volunteered as court-appointed Child Advocate and as a Big Brother.
